Berget 22: Operation Fort Knox.

Well, Berget 22, my second Berget,  is done for a while now and i’m slowly recovering from the infamous after-Berget depression. It maybe sounds a little corny but the way i see it you can leave Berget but Berget won’t leave you. The people i otherwise never would have met, the friends i made, the awesome time i had in those 6 days will stay with me. Even the nauseating stench of the can of surströmming opened in base by, i believe, a Norwegian contingent is a memory i will never forget. And for the Nordic people, Yes, i stand by my statement that opening a can of surströmming in public should be considered a crime against humanity. 🙂

For starters, i want to thank all the players attending this years Berget for a brilliant time. NDG, Mercenaries, Villagers and Gang larpers alike, you where fucking amazing. You made Berget fucking awesome and even better than last year.

Due to some stuff it was decided that Papa Company would join the blue team, the Nordland Defense Group, this year. This was somewhat disconcerting for some members but the majority of papa made the switch without thinking twice. With Verage Airsoft as company commander and Anton as 2IC Papa has become a tight knit group of people and a well oiled machine that kicks ass and always comes in hot ( ©2026 Jimmy).
For Berget 22 Papa company was comprised of about 85 absolute bad-ass grunts and, 9 vehicles doubling as massive weapons platforms and, as i jokingly  like to call them, battlefield ubers that made sure we could safely deploy in record time anywhere on the battlefield. To me all vehicles are invaluable but there is one just a little bit more invaluable. And that is the TGB30 driven by the tough as nails lady Cilla who drove our collective sorry asses all over the battlefield fueled by diesel and some yukkie pink monster energy drink 24/7. 🙂

And an improvement over last year, we had tanks! Two actual fucking tanks.Well, kinda, as i understand they are old Swedish BGBV4012 recovery vehicles skillfully made to look like actual tanks by their owner “Jeep Tom“. And to be honest, Although their bark was worst than their bite, seeing (and hearing) those puppy’s pulling up did scare the bejesus out the enemy. This info was given to me by a mercenary who wants to remain anonymous. 😉

My biggest complaint about Berget 21 was the absence of a decent group of larpers although this was only partially Bergets fault. But they made it way better this year with 3 civilian factions. The villagers, Odins Wolves MC and Sons of the North. These factions made the game so much more interesting because while interacting with civilian running and gunning just won’t work. We needed their cooperation to get missions done and the larpers did a great job making our lives quite difficult at some points. With thanks to the lady who managed to knifekill 3 of our company with a fucking spoon! 🙂

The switch from red to blue was the biggest change for us at Papa company. That didn’t degrade our combat effectiveness but to be brutally honest our HQ did. Command was at times chaotic and on several occasions orders where given that made no sense just to be countermanded minutes later by orders that made even less sense making our lives  harder than they should be. This resulted in people flat-out disregarding HQ orders on occasions and proceed with their own plans which worked out pretty well sometimes. I guess the villagers where quite happy when Papa company disregarded the order to search the village by all means necessary, including shooting people who resisted and proceeded with peaceful talks.

I also think that HQ staff running around in the field with the oporders on them without a proper protection detail isn’t very smart. But that’s just me. That being said, i don’t believe all HQ is bad and the major part of the staff there did their utmost best to make the missions go as smoothly as possible which in several occasions worked out fine. And i think with good preparation HQ will perform great next year.

Now i could go drone on about how the NDG crushed the Mercenaries (because we did, sorry not sorry 🙂 ) but I’m not going to. My dear friend and company commander Verage Airsoft has an amazing series of Berget 22 videos  showing the shenanigans of  papa company during Berget 22. And in the end Berget doesn’t know losers, we all win by having a awesome 66 hour game.

And now, what’s next? I can’t wait until Berget Events start giving out details about next years game so we can start preparing. And i most surely can’t wait until next years Berget to see all of you because life is just plain boring without all of you crazy people!
